Using Web 2.0 Tools

This blog is a companion to the Teachers Discovering Web 2.0 Tools wiki that we will use as the "home base" for our workshop today. The goals for today are to share the ways in which teacher are using weblogs, or blogs, for themselves or in their classrooms. We will examine various blogs, practice posting comments to blogs, and finally develop individual blogs. It is a lot to accomplish!!

So before we get too much further - let's find out about your expectations for today!! Business Week published a graphic summarizing on-line users in the United States.

Creator: Publish web pages and blogs, upload videos to sites like YouTube.

Critic: Comment on blogs and post ratings and reviews.

Collector: Use Real Simple Syndication (RSS) and tag web pages to gather information. Hint! If you were here this morning - you are one of these now!

Joiner: Use social networking sites.

Spectator: Read blogs, watch peer-generated videos and listen to podcasts.

Inactive: Online but don't participate in any form of social media.

Visit the site to learn more and then tell us - which type of user are you and what are your hopes/expectations for today?
